India and particularly State of Gujarat has one of the highest prevalence of diabetes in the world. In addition according to WHO, India has largest number of diabetic patients in the world and if proper measures are not taken to change the life style, then it will double in next 25 years

We feel that the only way to reduce the prevalence of diabetes is Yoga.

A word about Yoga:

The science of yoga is an ancient one. It is a rich heritage of Indian culture.

One cannot imagine benefits of yoga without performing it.

In addition to religious and spiritual benefits, the yogic practice helps in the treatment of certain diseases and preservation of health in normal individuals. It helps in controlling diabetes by the following mechanisms:

1.     Exercise effect

2.     Changes in biochemical and hormonal profile

3.     Elimination of stress

4.     Instilling a sense of discipline, patience & sense of well-being. It also increases  memory as well as

        concentration

With yoga alone, 30% of people with diabetes can control their diabetes without any medicine and in remaining 70% the dose of medicines (tablets as well as insulin injections) can be reduced by 30-40%

By increasing insulin sensitivity and decreasing plasma Cortisol level (which is counter regulatory hormone) normalizes  glucose as well as lipids in the blood. Thereby it will help in reducing the dose of drugs as well as insulin.

By eliminating of stress, yoga will normalizes blood pressure. Person will remain cheerful & will try to keep other persons cheerful.

Increases working capacity & exercise tolerance.

Increases vital capacity of the lungs.

Boost up defense system of the body against infections.

Decreases body fat and increases muscle mass.
